 Understanding 5 Great Elements in nature; those being; Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Ether, helps us to see that the entire universe consists of different frequencies or vibrations, just like water can be found in solid, liquid or gaseous forms.

From these 5 elements arise the 3 biological dispositions called Doshas.
Doshas are the underlying energy forces of the body. Each dosha consists of 2 of the 5 elements.

vata dosha is comprised of the elements of air and ether.
 
We can think of the vata dosha as the regulator of our internal weather condition
by its ever changing interactions of movement.

vata dosha means “that which moves things”. It is responsible for all major and minor seen and unseen movements in the body. It governs the transport of fluids, the discharges of secretions and the elimination of waste.

When imbalanced or excessive, Vata shows up as tissue depletion, dehydration and nervous disturbances. Vata also governs good communication between mind and senses. Emotionally Vata, in excess or out of harmony can result in instability, anxiety or fear.

Vata’s main site in the digestive system is the colon. In excess here, it accumulates as waste gasses, which move through the circulatory system to weak sites in the body such as joints, nerves and the mind.
