PART 1 Ayurveda teaches us that everyone needs massage on a regular basis to protect it against the ravages of life and time. Regular Abhyanga massage promotes healing and restoration by eliminating toxins from the body so that rejuvenating energies of the body may flow more freely. The abhyanga session in this DVD has a rhythm and flow that covers the entire body. You'll receive dosha specific massage oils and balms to practice with.

PART 2 Next, you'll learn Marma Chikitsa or Therapy . Marmas are the sites on the physical body that interface with the spirit, or Purusha. Marmas act like pranic or energy switches that can be used to turn up or down, on or off, the prana flow at various places. You may want to offer this subtle yet impactful sacred bodywork to remove blockages, increase energy or circulation, or tap deeper hidden reserves of vitality and connect with greater forces of life and nature. This session will stimulate the subtle nerves (nadis) and energy centers (chakras) of the body and mind.

PART 3 Following the first 2 massage sequences, you can observe and then begin practicing Shirodhara treatment. Shirodhara is administered by gently and methodically pouring warm herbalized oil over the forehead, synchronizing brain waves and profoundly coordinating and calming the mind, body, and spirit.

OPTIONAL ADVANCED TREATMENT: Shiro-Abhyanga-Nasya is a combination of a deep head/neck/shoulder massage and facial lymphatic massage, followed by deep inhalation of therapeutic aromatic steam, and a nasal and sinus nasya with herbalized nose drops. This popular treatment is an invaluable tool balancing most head, neck and respiratory disorders.
