An ancient Indian saying suggests that “disease never goes near a person who massages his or her feet before sleeping, just as snakes do not approach eagles”.
Although I cannot independently verify this statement to be true, I’m thinking that it tells us something about how deeply profound  receiving a foot massage can be. (personally, I have come to view the feet as little canaries in our mines. If/when we are stressed, toxic, fatigued: it is our feet that are dying to get some attention) When we put some love onto our feet with massage & nourishing oils, our entire being thanks us.

So, leaving snakes out of this, if you are a body worker, a spa worker or just an interested life student, this daylong workshop will immediately help you in your practice as you lift up your recipients  to the eagle zone!

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
There are similarities and differences between various models of foot reflexology.
Similarities include the practice of applying pressure to points accessible on the surface of the body, with the intent of stimulating a therapeutic response elsewhere in the body, as well as the awareness of multi dimensional layers and systems in human anatomy & physiology.

In this class, we will explore how Ayurveda is more oriented to clearing the energy channels (srotas) and working on spiritual energy pressure points (marmas), which will internally activate, by increasing the flow of prana from neuronal pathways in the brain, into the nervous system, and beyond, directly to the organs and other structures of the body.  It could be said that all reflexology systems are deeply relaxing and healing, but Ayurvedic Reflexology is more “non-strategic” in application.

That said, this work deeply and tangibly restores vitality to every system, structure and presenting imbalance through direct palpation of the feet, which is much like western Foot Reflexology.

COURSE OUTCOME
You will learn how to give a full  Ayurvedic Foot Massage, while your client is lying down fully clothed, incorporating points found on the foot and lower leg that are described in the Ayurvedic model of healing arts.

You will learn what each point activates elsewhere in the body, and different levels of depth of pressure to use.

Although we will be touching on some basics of Ayurveda, this course is not a course in Ayurveda. If you know nothing about Ayurveda, but you are interested in finding out more, you are welcome .  If you currently practice a different form of Foot reflexology, you are welcome to take this class and enjoy incorporating the 2 models together into a foot treatment that you love to share.

You will be introduced to the energy channel system, as well as the body/mind connections of the body types called Doshas.

This is a hands-on workshop. Participants will trade with a partner at least 4 times.

The course includes a full day of theoretical and practical instruction.
A Certificate of Attendance will be awarded at the end of the course.
