We understand that every skin personality is unique
and has its own recommended beauty rituals
to achieve optimal condition.

The trend toward more "scientific" skin care in the last 30 years has led to the introduction of the concept of 3 basic "skin types": dry, oily and normal. We have been conditioned to determine what kind of skin by how much or how little oil it produces, using the standard classification system

NORMAL: medium sized pores, smooth skin tone
OILY: enlarged pores, shiny skin, prone to blemishes
DRY: small pores, tight skin tone, flakiness
Skin typing, while useful in a superficial diagnostic way, is overly simplistic and does not get at the root cause of how or why the skin has become imbalanced. Until the cause has been addressed, the condition cannot be effectively treated.
Solavedi recognizes 4 basic skin tendencies as follows:
all elements BALANCED SKIN  
fire + air DRY + SENSITIVE SKIN (VATA - PITTA)
earth + ether MATURE SKIN (VATA - KAPHA)
water + fire OILY SKIN (PITTA - KAPHA)

HOW TO DETERMINE WHICH SKIN TENDENCY TO ADDRESS

This outline is intended to help you discover your particular AYURVEDIC skin personality (or current condition) so that you may care for it from the inside out as well as from the outside in. Don't worry if you aren't familiar with some of the words. We have provided a glossary of Ayurvedic terms and are in the process of creating a reference page for all of our ingredients so that you can learn more as you go. 1. BALANCED SKIN TYPE:This type of skin requires minimal attention. Oiliness and dryness may fluctuate but neither predominates. Even BALANCED skin breaks out occasionally or has a rash now and then, but this is not the dominating constitutional tendency or weakness. BALANCED skin has a smooth and even texture, with average pore size.Boost skin with a reviving mask once a week to brighten the complexion. Incorporate facial massage with serum twice a month to stimulate circulation and to give the skin a radiant glow.

YOUR BEAUTIFYING RITUAL: Cleanse with our gently exfoliating ROSE PETAL UBTAN twice a week. Then, massage cleansed skin with our NUTRIFYING OIL . Feel free to use our NEROLI REFINING SERUM as desired when skin is tired or lacklustre. Follow with calming ROSE TONER and, always, use FACE FOOD day and night.

2. DRY + SENSITIVE SKIN is a Vata/Pitta predominance. The elements in excess are air, ether, fire. Elements in depletion: Water and Earth (According to Ayurveda, DRY+ SENSITIVE SKIN needs calming, oilation, nourishing, warming) Your skin may fall into this category if your skin is somewhat mercurial, like your energy levels and your moods. You may be highly stress reactive, and your adrenal glands may be working overtime, producing excessive amounts of corticoids.
You may have a decreased immune response, circulatory problems such as high or low blood pressure, and skin imbalances like rosacea, dermatitis (usually on face, hands, elbows), eczema (during stressful periods) , small blemishes (usually around the mouth and chin area), and psoriasis. You are highly sensitive to lifestyle factors such as lack of sleep, poor diet, and a demanding schedule as well as disharmony in relationships. Other factors that contribute to drying of the skin are overexposure to the sun, smoking and the use of harsh skin care products.

YOUR BEAUTIFYING RITUAL:Cleanse with our gently exfoliating yet nutritive ROSE PETAL UBTAN mixed with milk once a week, alternating with our unctuous ROSE- CARROT CLEANSING OIL. Massage cleansed skin with our PROTECTIVE OIL .Follow with calming ROSE TONER and definitely, be generous with the FACE FOOD. Use PROTECTIVE SERUM morning and night under the FACE FOOD.
3. MATURE SKIN:Despite the many anti - aging treatments available, the bottom line is that time does the same thing to everyone: it ages the body. In Ayurveda, it is said that all of life is a "drying out" process, and that our spiritual workthroughout the life is to maintain our juiciness to the best of our ability. That is what ojas is: the nonphysical, yet essential building block of vitality, which brings lustre to the skin and hair, and a twinkle in the eyes. Mature or VATA-KAPHA skin has a thinner epithelial layer, lacks moisture, and shows facial lines, dark spots, discoloration and wrinkles as well as sun damage. The skin produces little oil, and is not as firm as it used to be. The capillaries may appear broken on the nose and cheeks, and there may be congestion around the mouth and chin areas.
YOUR BEAUTIFYING RITUAL:Cleanse with our ROSE PETAL UBTAN mixed with lemon water 1X a week, alternating with our HIBISCUS CLEANSING MILK . Massage cleansed skin with our REGENERATIVE OIL .Follow with calming ROSE TONER and FACE FOOD. Use REGENERATIVE SERUM morning and night. Older skin needs constant nourishment. Always carry ROSE TONER and a small container of replenishment FACE FOOD to recharge the skin during the day.
4. OILY or PITTA - KAPHA SKIN: Often in response to hormonal androgen changes, the sebum glands enlarge and make more oil. As the sebum glands expand, the extra oil they secrete clogs the pores, causing acne or blackheads. This type of skin may break ot before the menstrual cycle, or, for older women, the skin may have been blemish-free until your late forties. Blemishes in this skin type tend to be larger, deeper and sometimes cystlike, appearing on chin, cheeks and chin. The skin surface is generally oily and the pores appear larger than average.Do not overwash your skin. This causes the oil glands to overcompensate and produce more oil. Also, do not pop pimples! But, since you're going to do it anyway, here's how: gently squeeze pimple with clean hands wrapped in cotton or tissues.Sweep away debris and dab with tea tree oil. Do not touch.

YOUR BEAUTIFYING RITUAL:Cleanse with our ROSE PETAL UBTAN mixed with lemon water 3X a week and other days use a cider vinegar rinse. Massage cleansed skin with our EXTRA LIGHT OIL .Follow with calming ROSE TONER and FACE FOOD. Use ACNE SERUM as needed for breakouts.
