PURE YOGA: LEVEL 1 Iyengar Style Yoga
Level 1 Yoga is safe for all ages and conditions of students.
Following the Iyengar yoga method, which  was developed by B.K.S. Iyengar of Pune, India to emphasize clarity in  body alignment, use of breathing practices, and therapeutics in yoga posture these classes foster a dynamic awareness of body, mind, and spirit for growth on and off the yoga mat.
LEVEL 1
is a slower asana practice that combines floor poses on the mat designed to release deep connective tissue with some more challenging poses to strengthen core musculature. LEVEL 1 is considered a gentle, basic yoga class, although it may include some standing poses, downward dog, and some modified sun salutations.
For students who are just beginning, or early on in their practice. Also good for Injury Recovery and Seniors -  A gentle approach for those with special needs.

PURE YOGA: LEVEL 2 is a flowing vinyasa practice which may include some longer held standing poses, arm balances, inversions and backbends.LEVEL 2 is an evolving practice of Yoga that uses the Vinyasa, or sun salute, to link poses and "counter poses" to help open the body and create a flow of movement and energy in the body. The cultivation of  steadiness (strength)  and inner poise (flexibility) reflects this hatha yoga philosophy. Level 2 Yoga Flow classes  can be both athletic and meditative.Continuing/Deeper - For the ongoing practice that continues to develop.

PURE YOGA: LEVELS 1 + 2: offers a combination of Iyengar style mat work with slow, calm vinyasa flows, as practice for all levels of yoga experience.

POLICIES

Pre Registration for the 10 week series is strongly recommended. Classes are kept small to insure ample personal attention and fill with priority given to card holders, then on a first -come - first - served basis.  Please arrive 5-10 minutes early to set up your space. We cannot reserve or hold a spot for anyone, so please do not call from your car on the way to class requesting a reservation.

Fragrance+ Perfume: Classes are fragrance, incense and perfume free out of respect for allergies and certain sensitivities. Thank you for refraining from wearing perfume to yoga class.
 
Late Arrivals: Late arrivals may not be accomodated in some classes. There will be a note on the studio entrance indicating that, if you are late to class, and if there are still spaces open, to please wait outside the door until meditation is completed and you see bodies in motion. This is respectful to those students in meditation who have arrived on time.
 
Early Departures: If you know in advance that you will leave class before it ends, please tell the instructor so that you may be positioned in such a way as not to disrupt the rest of class as you leave. You will be asked to quietly leave before the final relaxation pose and meditation begin, and to quietly roll up your mat and gather your belongings outside of the classroom. Thank you foryour thoughtfulness.
 
 
About the Instructor:

Carollanne Crichton LMT AyT  received her first Yoga Teacher Certification from Kripalu Yoga Center  in 1978. Since then, she has received numerous Yoga Teacher Trainings from: Richard Freeman, Erich Schiffmann, Donna Farhi, Sarah Powers, Cheri Clampett, Paul Grilley and Arturo Peal. Carollanne is also a licensed massage therapist in private practice full-time since 1989. She is a longtime student of Ayurveda, the holistic healthcare system from India, studying Jyotish with Jeffrey Armstrong (Vedic Arts and Science Academy); Ayurveda  with David Frawley (American Institute of Vedic Studies), Ancient Ayurveda with Gandharva Sauls (Ayurveda Yoga Institute)  and Sanskrit with Vyaas Houston  (American Sanskrit Institute). She has also received Ayurvedic Marma Therapy training from Dr. Martina Ziska, D. Ay and 3 levels of Cranio-Sacral Therapy certification through Upledger Institute.

 
Carollanne was  interim manager  of the
Santa Barbara Yoga Center in Santa Barbara CA, and a contributing editor to Joseph LePage on the "Integrative Yoga Therapy" Training Manual. The featured presenter in 3 training videos/DVD's, and author of "Earth Medicine and Healing Stones", she is respected as both a bodywork and yoga therapy instructor at the national and international level.  Massage Magazine  called Carollanne “…one of the nation’s top body therapists.”
