Orchid leaves contain certain pigments called Anthocyanins.
These synthesize in response to stressors like UV radiation, temperature extremes, drought, diseases and pollution.

In turn, they function similarly for your skin.
Anthocyanins are part of a larger group of phytochemicals called flavonoids, which are known for their antioxidant and anti-inflammatory capabilities. Certain flavonoids have Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) — fighting radicals up to four times more than Vitamins E & C. Orchids are a prime source of ROS flavonoids.

Orchid petals are also super dense with humectants, which are like moisture absorbing sponges for the dermal cells.
Thus, orchids help soothe dry Vata skin, soften fine lines and enhance overalltone while minimizing oxidative stress, a concern for Pitta skin.
Shatavari root is nourishing and cooling by nature, and helps in this serum to balance excessive heat in the surface of the skin, which can lead to dry patches, acne, rashes,  or other forms of skin inflammation.

Directions for use: After cleansing and applying toner, roll the serum applicator over entire face in a light layer.
Follow with sun block (for day) & moisturizer

Ingredients: Orchis Mascula Flower & Asparagus Racemosus Root 40% in Cocos Nucifera(Coconut) & Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oils 60%

MORE ABOUT SOLAVEDI’s 3XO SERUMS
What does “3XO” mean?

” 3XO “ stands for “triple infused”. It’s a formulary designation that  tracks repetitions of infusion in the extracting process.

First, the orchids we select are hand harvested and cultivated without the use of pesticides or genetic modifications.
The stems and flowers and leaves are hand tied in bunches and hung upside down for several weeks to dry.

Same goes for the Shatavari Root.
The orchids and shatavari roots must be bone dry for the next step. (any - even 1 droplet - of moisture will cause the oil to get moldy.)
This slow drying process is to prevent the oils from going rancid, plus, the petals and leaves are more easily removed from the stems when they are dry.

Once all the plant material is sufficiently dried, it’s time for it to be slow cooked into oil, the Ayurvedic traditional method of extraction.

According to the Charaka Samhita, Ayurveda’s oldest medical doctrine text, it is best to use oils in our remedies and beautification therapies.
Ayurveda teaches that skin is comprised of unctuous substances (lipid based), and, that it’s remedies must also be unctuous. Modern
science would translate that into: “the skin is lipophillic, therefore, transdermal applications that are oil based are absorbed most efficiently”.

When we low heat triple infuse herbal oils at Solavedi we transform the naturally occurring oils within the flower petals into liposomal (oil based) concentrates that penetrate deeply into the cells and are received as “food”, or nutritive substances.

Solavedi upholds the tradition of herbal oil making because herbal oil massage, “snehana”, is a form of self love and self care and, as such, provides deep tissue nourishment

Our 3XO Botanicals are food grade, and the lipid based nutritive compounds remain intact and undegraded or damaged due to the slow cooking process. They are safer to use directly on the skin than essential oils.
They are excellent facial quality beauty and skin care treatments for this reason.

How much herb is used to make this serum?
A lot. Many shatavari oils on the market use a ratio of 1 pound of herb to a gallon of oil.
Solavedi actually ends up cooking down from 5-10 pounds per gallon.
Add to that the orchid petals and leaves and you see why you won’t find richer, more concentrated infused oil serums anywhere.

Lastly, Are 3XO Botanicals the same as Essential Oils?
No.
Both are used for healing, and caring for the whole body and mind.
However, essential oils are not truly “oils”. They are steam distilled and micronised particulate compounds representing the features and properties of the plant used.
The process involved in making essential oils is one that exerts great forces of pressure and heat, and yields a very active, volatile medicine grade product.
What most people understand about essential oils is limited to how they smell.
Herbal extracts are not always aromatic the way essential oils can be.
Essential Oils are highly aromatic due to being micronised.

Micronisation allows the molecules to so tiny, that 10,000 of them would fit on the head of a pin.
This gives essential oils the capability of crossing the blood brain barrier, and of entering the blood and nervous systems immediately upon inhalation. 3XO Serums do penetrate the deeper cell membranes but the uptake of their compounds is slower and the effects more nutritive.

Expected shelf life is 24 months from date of batch preparation, and not less than 12 months from  when you purchase it.
Expiration dates are very conservative, and are marked on each bottle.

A 15 ml bottle of serum with daily use, typically lasts at least 3 months.
